France: ThyssenKrupp Service Acier
Fosses, France - the stage for a unique beginning: in 1999, Thyssen Service Acier was founded here as the holding company for the two steel service centers Coste and Laminoirs et Ateliers de Jeumont.
This was followed in 2004 by an ambitious merger project and renaming as ThyssenKrupp Service Acier. In only a very short period of time, production and product ranges were fully coordinated with the roughly 120-strong workforce and a completely new organizational structure created. In addition to the site at Fosses, not far from Paris, the company has a second plant in Jeumont on the border with Belgium.
Today, ThyssenKrupp Service Acier boasts an efficient, market- and customer-oriented structure. In fiscal 2004/2005, ThyssenKrupp Service Acier generated sales of over €100 million.
The broad production range speaks for itself: in Jeumont, two slitting lines, two narrow strip slitting lines, a cut-to-length line and a dressing line for machining slit strip edges are in operation. The Fosses site operates two slitting lines and a narrow strip slitting line. A new GEORG slitting line is capable of producing around 100,000 metric tons of steel per year – even those high-strength grades required by auto manufacturers and suppliers.
